One amazing thing about voice actors is that they are a lot like flavors. Just as in a cake, cinnamon would be welcome but in a stew requiring garlic, it would be a disaster; so it is with different voices. Each one is so delicious in the right "recipe" and that we work hard to find just the voice/inflection/accent to produce a culinary...no, auditory masterpiece.

Iota shaking hands How we
met them:
Every time we go out "hunting" for a voice for a particular book, we  are totally amazed by what we find, and Phil is no exception. Narrating a book for the "wee-folk" requires just the right voice and this story in particular called for a captivating, colorful yet comforting voice, somewhat like hearing from a favorite uncle. Phil's voice is all this and more, especially with his British accent that passes though his native Brazilian tongue. Listening to Phil is pure enjoyment.
Iota jumping for joy Fun Facts about them:
Adding Phil on board has really increased our international flavor. A Brazilian native, he had his first VO gig at 27, and he left the studio commenting, "I would gladly do this for the rest of my life!" Happily he still does. In addition to enjoying Rock 'n Roll, "Chunky Monkey" ice cream, wasabi (condiment of choice!) and comic books, his world now include a new-born son. I think I know what stories Phil will be reading to him in the next few years.
Iota with sign stating "what I think" What they have to say:
"I was really excited to be cast to work for Kalliope. I have to confess that right after I auditioned for the first book I told my wife: 'I hope I book it. It will be a lot of fun to read this story. But if I don't, I hope they send me the rest of the text. I'm dying to know what happens next!'" ~Phil Miler
