Artists are a diverse lot: they may choose to paint or photograph, sculpt or sketch. Whatever their medium though, they create an image out of an idea, enabling us to see more of life than we otherwise would. We applaud their skill and are grateful for their passion and their talents.

How we
met them:
Thinking of an artist for the book, Just David, brought to mind Norman Rockwell images and home-spun loveliness. That's exactly the quality I found in the work of Joanne Friar when I came upon her web page. She graciously agreed to try her hand at capturing David and his violin, and we think she has done a splendid job.
Iota jumping for joy Fun Facts about them:
Seeking contentment is a noble goal and I think Joanne has come close to finding it. She loves New England where she was born and still lives, home made birthday cards from her husband and four children, her white cat Priscilla, and the color Venetian red. All that, and her favorite book as a child was A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson. What a lovely picture of good old New England charm and serenity!
Iota with sign stating "what I think" What they have to say:
"I was very excited to be chosen to illustrate the cover for Just David. It’s a beautiful, timeless story with themes that certainly resonate today. Kalliope is giving children and their families the opportunity to revisit this kind of classic literature, all together, in a modern and convenient way." ~Joanne Friar
