Collaborative Readers

Sometimes you want a book for a group of listeners of different ages. We offer four separate age groupings in our Collaborative Readers section. For all ages, we offer P - N; for pre-readers through teens, try P - T; for youth through adults, try Y - G; for teens through nostalgic, try T - N. Click on the image of Kalliope to see the lists of books for each age group category.

All Ages ( P - N )

For all ages, may we suggest our P - N category? The stories are so enjoyable that while the little ones will listen with rapt attention, the teen and adults will not be bored silly. With admirable characters, engrossing plots, and engaging details, everyone will come away with something different but appropriate for their age. Try one in the car for that long vacation drive or play one after a campsite supper with s'mores. Any place or any time the ages gather, these stories will definitely entertain!

Pre-Reader to Teen ( P - T )
Click to go to Collaborative P to T Sometimes a children's book has a wider interest range than just the wee ones. Teens that listen to these can either reminisce over a book they enjoyed as a child, or enjoy for the first time one they missed during their younger years. Also, grandparents who want to give a group gift to their grandkids will find something here that all ages of pre-reader through teens will appreciate and share.

Youth to Adults ( Y - G )
Click to go to Collaborative Y to A While these books are above the level of the littlest folks, they have enough interest to capture and hold the attention of pre-teens through grown-ups. For the young set, their vocabulary will be expanded just enough to introduce some big words they might not know. Meanwhile, the interested adults will be able to share some thoughts and reflections on the plot and characters that come only to those wiser in years. These are definitely relationship builders!

Teen to Nostalgic ( T - N )

Click to go to Collaborative T to N Okay, these books are *not* for kids. While some may be mature enough to handle the vocabulary or the subject matter, they would probably not have the background of history to value these stories. But they are wonderful for bringing the generations together and celebrating the lives of those whom history regards as heroes of  inspiring proportion. When you invite the grandparents over, include the teens in the listening. Who knows what conversational bonds may form?

"The best of a book is not the thought which it contains, but the thought which it suggests;
just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones but in the echoes of our hearts."

~Oliver Wendell Holmes ( 1809 - 1894 )
