Our YOUTH AUDIOBOOKS are chosen with this prerequisite in mind. Imaginative plot, captivating characters, and wholesome entertainment alone could make our audiobook offerings a hit, but we add the requirement of time tested appeal. In fact, each volume we offer has delighted and charmed children for over eighty-five years! Thankfully, you need not hide the flashlights, but be prepared to "unplug" their ipod if they fall asleep while listening. Shhh...it's sleeptime!

Kalliope's Review |
Kids and adults alike will be inspired by Sara's use of imagination to reshape the world around her. Holding her head high, treating everyone with kindness and dignity, never whining at the difficulties of life, and acting like a princess -- all are included in this lovely English tale. Do you have a "closet" princess that needs a role model to follow? I chose this exceptional story just for her. ~ Kalliope |

Short Book Summary |
Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote the serialized novella Sara Crewe (or "What Happened at Miss Minchin's Boarding School") in 1888 and it was published in St. Nicholas Magazine. She later rewrote it as a novel in 1905 and titled it, The Little Princess. Perhaps the most famous version of this riches-to-rags-to-riches again story was done as a movie in 1937, changing the location from England to New York, and starring Shirley Temple as Sara Crewe. |

Read First Paragraph |
"Once on a dark winter's day, when the yellow fog hung so thick and heavy in the streets of London that the lamps were lighted and the shop windows blazed with gas as they do at night, an odd-looking little girl sat in a cab with her father and was driven rather slowly through the big thoroughfares. She sat with her feet tucked under her, and leaned against her father, who held her in his arm, as she stared out of the window at the passing people with a queer old-fashioned thoughtfulness in her big eyes." |
